–
The NFL has finally started again and everything is possible again. On Friday we saw Super Bowl winner Kansas Chiefs lose to Detroit Lions, on Sunday there were still 14 games scheduled.
Cowboys roll over bumbling Giants
Dallas Cowboys traveled to New York City on NFL Sunday. The Cowboys couldn’t have had a better start, beating the New York Giants 40-0. It was the Cowboys’ biggest win ever. Before Sunday, the biggest win came in 1978 against the Baltimore Colts. With the victory, the Cowboys announced that they will compete for the coveted Super Bowl, defenseman DeMarcus Lawrence said afterwards. The Cowboys didn’t let the Giants score a single point. Field goals were blocked, balls were taken away at every turn and Giants quarterback Daniel Jones was tackled seven times.
Tom Brady honored
Super Bowl finalist Philadelphia Eagles won the first game of the season against New England Patriots. Tom Brady, now co-owner of Birmingham City, was honored in New England. The NFL legend has now really retired, but was allowed to run out of the tunnel one more time by the Patriots. Patriots owner Robert Kraft also announced that he would admit Brady to the Patriots’ Hall of Fame this summer, despite the usual four-year waiting period.
Ravens lose playmaker Dobbins
The Baltimore Ravens won 25-9 against the Houston Texans, but the team’s supporters are not really happy. Running back JK Dobbins tore his Achilles tendon in the Ravens’ first game. The star player will miss the rest of the season. It shook up the entire roster. Teammate Patrick Queen stood with tears in his eyes afterwards.
Brock ‘Mr. Irrelevant’ Purdy is back.
Brock Purdy of the San Francisco 49ers was injured in the NFC Championship Game against the Eagles last season. It was uncertain if and how the quarterback would return from his elbow injury. On Sunday ‘Mr. Irrelevant’ the response in a 30-7 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. Purdy showed that he is back to his old level with good statistics and two touchdowns. The only difference from Purdy before his injury was the fact that the 23-year-old had been named captain by his teammates.
