Jumbo-Visma also comes with reassuring news about Nathan Van Hooydonck

Update Nathan Van Hooydonck suffered no injuries from his traffic accident. His Jumbo-Visma team announced this via social media. As a precaution, the Belgian was kept in an artificial coma, but he has since woken up from it.

Van Hooydonck drove through the center of Kalmthout with his pregnant wife on Tuesday morning. According to the Gazette of Antwerp Van Hooydonck was waiting at an intersection when he became unwell, after which he allegedly pressed his accelerator to cross the intersection. Five other vehicles were damaged. Van Hooydonck was transferred to the University Hospital of Antwerp, where he was kept in an induced coma.

Further investigations
However, in the hours that followed, reassuring news came and now Jumbo-Visma has also come with more than good news. “Nathan is awake and has no injuries from his traffic accident. His situation is not critical. Further research must reveal what caused Nathan to become unwell while driving.”

Jumbo-Visma provided an update on the situation of Nathan Van Hooydonck on Wednesday. “Nathan is communicating and – considering the circumstances – things are going well,” the team said via social media. “He was very happy to hear that Jonas (Vingegaard, ed.) won yesterday’s stage in the Vuelta and was deeply moved by the fact that he dedicated the victory to him.”
